90% of Black students in Canada want to achieve a higher education. The BEF was founded to help make this a reality
The BEF helps to empower Black students to succeed. We are a volunteer not for profit organization that raises funds to create scholarships and make a sustainable impact on the lives of Black students. Our support helps to minimize financial barriers that may be faced in accessing post-secondary education (university, trade school or college). We build community partnerships, leverage our network and search for new ways to fundraise to support the success of Black students.
Your support and contributions will enable us to meet our goals and change the lives of Black Canadian students.
Welcome BEF supporters!
If you were unable to attend our live virtual scholarship awards ceremony, where we recognized the outstanding academic achievements and community engagement by 8 amazing Black Canadian students, please take some time to enjoy this video. It is filled with exciting guest speakers, the talented DJ Elegance, and a tribute to social justice champion, Kola Iluyomade.
During our inaugural virtual awards ceremony, Mayor Patrick Brown used an unintended yet offensive word when referring to the city of Brampton. The Black Education Fund does not condone this language and we unequivocally condemn the use of any language which disparages the marginalized diverse Black and Brown communities. We provided the mayor an opportunity to apologize for this mistake, however no meaningful apology has been offered at the time of us sharing this video.
